The Star Lovers
Cynthia Sternau
About this work:
Long, long ago, the earth was inhabited by primitives. Then, vstors came from the stars and changed the inhabitants for their purposes. This is their story. The Star Lovers takes its frame from the Japanese folk myth of Tanabata, where, once a year, if the sky is clear, two lovers banished to opposite ends of the Milky Way can see one another. This is the third work in a series of three operas about love (The Story of the Bird Feng, The Tale of Cupid & Psyche, The Star Lovers).
