3 Rilke Songs
Lawrence Moss
About this work:
Three Rilke Songs was written in 1963 and revised notationally to make performance easier, in 1977. It reflects my great admiration at that time (I was living in Florence) for Luigi Dallapicolla. There are all sorts of rhythmical and pitch schemes (see Elaine Barkin's article in an early issue of Perspectives of New Music), but the overall impresssion, for me at least, is a great lyricism and expressiveness of the text's meaning.
