tW!TcH

Nicholas Chase

About this work:
Mathematically based on the Hindu Sri Yantra (a series of four upright triangles superimposed upon a second series of five inverted triangles which in turn create a fabric 42 secondary triangles), tw!TcH was inspired by Andy Warhol's photographic painting 16 Jackies. The title tw!TcH was arrived upon not only as a reference to the film-like iteration of the figure of Jackie Kennedy in Warhol’s work, but also in acknowledgement of the potential difficulty in the performance of this piece. Much of tw!TcH was composed using an “exquisite corpse” process in which, while composing one part, the other parts were not referred to.
