This work was composed in response to the events of 9/11 and was premiered May 1, 2002 at Old Dominion University Chandler Recital Hall, Norfolk, Virginia. It was commissioned by the Virginia Chamber Players for Debra Cross, Flautist, Beverly Baker, Violist, and Barbara Chapman, Harpist.
