Divertimento a due

Ernesto P. Pellegrini

About this work:
Publisher: Arizona Recordings. This piece was purposely conceived in late 1991 for the occasion of the 1992 10th World Saxophone Congress which took place in Pesaro, Italy, where It was premiered during the first week of September by George Wolfe and Austrian saxophonist Hannes Kawrza. Because the Congress was located in Pesaro, the birthplace of Rossini, the composer decided to create a duet based on a particular Rossinian work. With no disrespect intended to the memory of the great maestro, the composer chose motives derived from the “Passo a sei “ of the William Tell and used them as the basis for a playful diversion for two, as it becomes evident during the performance of this work.
