Movement VIII

Ernesto P. Pellegrini

About this work:
Publisher: Arizona Recordings. As in other “Movements” composed by Ernesto Pellegrini, the title is not in any way suggestive of a large work, but rather denotes a single one-movement musical experience where motion in time occurs and is expressed through various manifestations of both musical significance and medium setting. In this particualr one, for solo Eb alto saxophone, the motion in time is expressed through motovic transformations of the basic musical ideas which are continuously challenged in a rhythmical context. The work was commissioned by and is dedicated to Preston Duncan, the performer on the CD: America's Millenium Tribute to Adolphe Sax, Vol. I, Arizona University Recordings.
