About this work:
Written for contemporary jazz quintet.
Compositionally, the bass lines became the basis for solos and harmonic progressions. The 6/4 meter has its mysteries and in this context, sets up many rhythmic possibilities to explore. With 3 distinct solo sections, each one is built upon bass lines and parts of bass lines that occur within the "head". Bass line phrases are used to ‘link’ sections of the piece together.
