Originally composed in 1974, revised in 2003. Five movements influenced by Japanese haiku. Scored variously for six instruments (including windchimes). Requires 5 or 6 performers, depending on whether an instrumentalist can sing the short vocal section. Solo voice in 5th movement only. Instrumentation notes: Instrumentation: piano, flute, recorder (soprano=tenor), koto, guitar, windchimes; solo voice (male or female, tenor recommended). Koto part may substitute samisen or mandolin. (NOTE: If listening to the score through Scorch it may be necessary to adjust the tempo bar as Scorch sometimes fails to recognize metronome markings.)
