About this work:
Strong and lyrical at the same time, the trumpet and alto sax have the lead parts with a lot of percussion too. The trombones drive the piece forward to a central climax with a constantly varying quasi-ostinato underpinning. A bittersweet chordal ending is gentle and meditative with gongs and drum.
