About this work:
Maybe the first opera set in a trailor park in the desert of the American west. Six marginal Americans trying to escape from the past, only to survive death after buying an elixir from a stranger who promises it will "Make them live longer...". Brad Korbesmeyer's play by the same name is the source. Libretto, Peter Bennett.The world premiere took place at Theatre for the New City in Manhattan, March 2001, with the Riverside Opera Ensemble, Stephen Pickover, director;Nathan Matthews,music director and conductor;with singers,Derrick Ballard, Daryl Henriksen, Randall Schloss, Elvira Green, Heide Holcombe, Sherry Zannoth. Opera News called it "X-Files meets the opera!"
