About this work:
Interplay is an energetic piece, full of rhythmic vitality, sometimes lyrical, too, and imbued with the spirit of a good adventure. The word "interplay" aptly describes the relationships among the three instruments as musical gestures interact from moment to moment and as rhythms and melodic figures respond to changing contexts over the course of the piece. The thematic material of the music is defined less by specific melodies and rhythms than their type or character. These thematic ideas are varied and combined in several ways as the composition develops.
