Three Fell Swoops
Adam Silverman
About this work:
Composed for Circles, a group with instrumentation based on Louis Andriessen's "Hout," "Three Fell Swoops" is a piece in three sections, each of which is based on running chromatic descents. The piece has a driving rhythmic pulse that persists in fast and slow sections, and has a "kit" of congas, bongos, and tambourine. Also prominent in the percussion part is vibraphone and glockenspiel. It is possible to play the work with electric guitar, though classical guitar is preferred if it is amplified well to balance the ensemble.
