Electro-Magma
Peter Scartabello
About this work:
At some point in the distant future, approximately 100,000 years, our Sun will have grown into a red giant star. The Earth's oceans will dry up and the surface of the planet will be reduced to molten rock and metal.
The tape represents this transition, with the filtered white noise being atmospheric discharges from an unstable atmosphere, the wind chimes(being made of titanium) are reminders of our civilization's stubbornness to join the lost civilizations of the past. The bass clarinet, represents a disembodied human spirit observing the liquefaction of mother Earth. At first in exploration of the changing features, later in violent disbelief and sadness, and finally with spiritual transcendence.
