Tarantella

Joseph Bertolozzi

About this work:
Performed here by Marjorie Jackson Rasche, F.A.G.O. on the 1998 Schantz Organ (V/117) at Moody Memorial 1st United Methodist Church in Galveston, TX, the most satisfying part in playing this organ pedal solo is that the organist gets to 'dance' the tarantella as he/she is playing it! Beginning life as a work for solo violin written for an incidental score to Flaminio Scala's commedia del'arte play "The Portrait," I liked the theme so much I gave it a full orchestral treatment as 'A Feast At The Italian Center' in my "Suite Poughkeepsie."
