String Quartet 1. Reds

Michael Enright

About this work:
Reds, the first in the Four-Section Work for String quartet is in 7/4, yet retains a sense of metrical-semi-ambiguity due to the recurrent triplets. The string quartet suite contains four sections, each titled for the color of the music. Unlike Messiaen and Beethoven, etc. I do not see colors when I hear sounds and scales. Regardless, the titles reflect the colors I imagine reflect the sections.
