“Meetings”was written for the American Opera Projects’ Composers and the Voice series.
The setting is an office, with a large desk, a smaller table and a few chairs. The characters are archetypes found in such a setting:
-- The Boss (baritone): Ambitious and aggressive
-- The Figure Head (bass): The traditional former company head.
He has a memory problem
The Secretary (mezzo-soprano): The underling.
She chants back lines while she takes notes during the meeting
