About this work:
Originally written as the two overtures to Luce's play "The Belle of Amherst," about the life of Emily Dickinson, this music found its way into my piano suite entitled "Songs & Waltzes." The Overture to Act 1 is a gracious, pleasant waltz that sets the tone for us to meet the reclusive poet in her parlor. The Overture to Act 2 (Adagio) is a sadder piece, reflective of the melancholy and disappointment dealt to her in life.
