Chamber Concerto

Sheree Clement

About this work:
Chamber Concerto was written in New York City and Lenox, Massachusetts in 1982. Initially a few simple ideas unfold. The music continues via a series of variations, exploring and revisiting previous events by placing them in new contexts. Later variations include parts of preceding ones; occasionally, the resulting passage is reviewed again, in a third context. The rich color possible in the soloist chamber orchestra creates opportunities for the new contexts for familiar ideas. The work was previewed at the Composers' Conference and premiered at the Tanglewood Music Festival in 1985. Speculum Musicae gave the New York premiere the following fall and recorded it on CRI #617. Originally published by Margun Music, the score is now available from G. Schirmer. www.schirmer.com 257 Park Ave South, 20th floor New York, NY 10010 Fax: 212 254-2013 Phone: 212 254-2100 E-mail: schirmer@schirmer.com
