About this work:
Over Salt River (1995) was commissioned by the Newark Symphony Orchestras is dedicated to the composer’s cousin, who died of AIDS. Using a poem by the Native American poet, Joy Harjo's "Eagle Poem,” the work speaks of the living and dying we all do. Over Salt River is “a soaring affirmation of the wonder and beauty of life in the face of death." [City Paper of Philadelphia]
