BLEACHED THREAD, SISTER THREAD
Tina Davidson
About this work:
“The energy and vitality of BLEACHED THREAD, SISTER THREAD create a sense of journey so palpable and persuasive that the music and poetry flow together in one unified experience” (American Music). This work was commissioned by the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, this work was written for the Mendelssohn String Quartet and recorded on CRI in 1996.
The work is base on a poem by the composer’s sister, Eva Davidson, which is about relationships spun with fine yet ordinary durable thread. These are old relationships, where the ties of the past support the present, and reveal a dark rich fabric full of color and boundless energy. It is life and relationships renewed.
