About this work:
In this setting of Andersen's story the motivation of the malevolence of the Snow Queen comes from the character of Skadi in Norse mythology, and elements of the "Edda" are grafted into the story. Singers play multiple roles in the opera. Published by Seesaw Music. The recorded performance of Skadi's aria "Skadi is the Name" is by mezzo-soprano Marilyn Joy Coles and pianist Susan Teicher.
