Misty Valley Chickens

Aaron Rosenberg

About this work:
"Misty Valley Chickens" is for soprano saxophone and double bass. It is a humorous, pastoral and whimsical glimpse into the lives of a special type of bird. The Misty Valley is a special place, hidden from humans. There reside the Misty Valley Chickens, who enjoy long full lives, fearing neither confine of coop nor threat of hatchet. At dawn, witness the young ones - lively banter, frivolity and schoolyard games. Observe the passion, romance and derring-do of the adolescents. And at the end of a long day, a bright full moon illuminates a dewy dreamscape where chickens doze side by side on the sun-warmed earth, the older ones nuzzling the young to sleep, singing lullabies.
