About this work:
The first of a series of operas to be written on texts by the great Italian writer, Giovanni Verga, ( the father of verismo - in Italian literature), the author of the short story Cavalleria Rusticana). This one act opera is for three singers, Mezzo, Tenor, Baritone, and chamber ensemble, the work was premiered at the Vizzini Music Festival (Vizzini, Sicily) in July of 2005. A powerfully dramatic work, written with an eye towards "verismo" the opera is quite faithful to the play of the same name.
