MOVING TIME

Sorrel Hays

About this work:
For soprano soloist with three part female chorus and baritones, with piano. May be sung by chamber chorus or vocal quartet. MOVING TIME contains some easy comedic advanced vocal technique. The text by Gertrude Stein premises a busy society, as she portrayed Americans, always doing something. My notion is that of a productive bee colony, with the hum and buzz of satisfying activity, queen laying eggs, workers out foraging, some bees just hanging out amusing themselves watching the rest of the world doing, doing, doing.
