About this work:
G. Ricordi (Milan, agent Boosey and Hawkes, NYC); winner, 1993 Goffredo Petrassi Orchestral Competition and premiered by the O.S.E.R. (Parma, IUtaly) under Gunther Neuhold. "Sprig" is the middle movement of A Thoreau Symphony but is performable separately. The title refers to Henry David Thoreau's favorite flower, referred to by Louisa May Alcott in a letter describing Thoreau's funeral. Recorded by the Slovak Radio Symphony under Joel Suben on CRI CD 759.
