The Brute is scored for 3 singers (soprano, Bass-Baritone and Tenor). the orchestra consists of 1 each of flute, clarinet, bassoon, percussion, vibraphone, piano, violin, viola, double-bass. It lasts ca. 25' and is published by T. Presser Co. the composer also has copies. The MP3 recording is wrongly identified as being by the Yale Opera Studio, which premiered it at Norfolok CT in 1961.It was conducted by Gustav Meier and featured Jan de Gaetani in the title role. The MP3 file attached is by the Maryland Opera Studio, just before they took it to Bayreuth (yes!) for the 20th Youth Festival as the US entry. The libretto is based on the short play , "The Bear" by Chekhov, the libretto is by Eric Bentley.
