Gary D. Belshaw, Composer
Associate Professor of Piano Pedagogy and Composition
Dr. Belshaw (B.M. Music Composition, Texas Tech University, 1991; M.M. Music Theory and Composition, Texas Tech University, 1994; Ph.D. Fine Arts, Texas Tech University, 2000) currently completing his tenth year of service on the music faculty of Wayland Baptist University in Plainview. He teaches Composition, Orchestration, Music Technology, and the Aural Skills component of the four-semester Music Theory Sequence. He is a frequent collaborative pianist, has served as section and solo pianist with the Lubbock and Plainview Symphony Orchestras, and has adjudicated piano and composition festivals and competitions. He is listed in Who’s Who and is a member of the Society of Composers Incorporated, the American Music Center, and the College Music Society. President's Scholarship Concert
The concert included the World Premiere of a One-Act Opera by Gary D. Belshaw. In "The Worst One Ever," three college coeds vent their various frustrations about "the worst teacher [boyfriend, father] ever."
