Nathaniel Tull Phillips (born in El Paso, Texas on 6 February 1969) has served on the faculty of the University of California at San Diego, Palomar College, San Marcos California, Keio University in Tokyo, Japan, and the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Compositionally, Phillips works with combining multiple highly-differentiated sound worlds, having them interact through juxtaposition, inter-penetration, and convolution. The resulting synthesis of sounds is sometimes humorous and often mysterious or spiritual. His musical projects often involve collaborations with performers, dancers, computer artists, and involve the use of computer technology.
Dr. Phillips lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife, two children, and a butterfly named magic rainbox.
