Creating modern music that looks to the future with roots in all that is valuable from the past is where most of Richard Eppedio’s musical energy is today. This was recently reflected when well-known jazz musician, Chris Botti, included one of the latest pieces by Richard’s new project, SpiceHouse, on his radio show. Born in Flushing, New York, Richard began playing guitar at age 12. Within five years, he was playing professionally with his band at universities, clubs and various other venues. Upon graduating high school, Richard entered Five Towns College to study music theory and soon began teaching music privately. While experimenting with the latest technologies for recorded music, he soon realized music composition was where he wanted to concentrate his efforts. Early compositions with partner Cindy Keyser were published in Italy and the United Kingdom, garnering favorable reviews in publications such as Billboard magazine and receiving radio airplay in several European countries. A Scandinavian promotional radio tour followed. Always exploring new musical avenues, Richard studied jazz and composition with Peter Rogine, jazz guitarist and professor of music, Dowling College, and has always been a pioneer of modern technology. During the mid-1990s, Richard worked at various large communication companies, specializing in multimedia and motion graphics. While his list of musical work grew, his exploration into many styles of music became more influential. Indian classical music, western classical music, jazz, electronic, twelve tone and varieties of world music led to Richard developing a style of modern Raga called “MOGA,” played on a restrung and retuned “Gitar.” To date, Richard has created over 500 musical pieces with a large cross-section of his work available for listening at American Music Center, most of which have been commercially recorded and available through all popular music outlets as well as being performed on several hundred podcasts, radio shows and other media. Recently, he and partner Cindy Keyser-Posner have had the majority of their music catalog published in Europe through Boosey/Alabama Music and apollo Music. Richard also has a toilet that plays "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds."
