Ronald J. Williams is currently the Director of Music Ministries at Broomfield United Methodist Church and is in his 25th year as a choral director. He also served as Director of Music at Park Hill United Methodist Church in Denver (1996-2000) and as Director of Music/Organist at Grace United Methodist Church in Lake Mary, Fl. (1980-1995).
Ron was instrumental in founding the Colorado Repertory Singers, a community chorale based in Broomfield, Colorado of which he is the music director. He was the music director of the Arvada Center Chorale from 1998-2001 and has prepared several choirs for performances with the National Repertory Orchestra at the Breckenridge Music Festival under the direction of Carl Topilow.
Ron is a board member of the Colorado chapter of the American Choral Directors Association where he is the past repertory and standards chairman for church music. He has taught vocal and instrumental music on both collegiate and elementary school levels. He is a lifelong pianist, is proficient on all types of keyboards, has orchestral experience as a cellist, and enjoys playing a variety of musical instruments.
A native Floridian, Ron holds a Master of Music degree in composition from the University of Colorado where he studied with both Richard Toensing and Luis Gonzalez, and received private and master class lessons with composers George Crumb and Joan Tower.
Ron earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Theory from Stetson University, DeLand, Fl. He graduated summa cum laude, and was a member of both the Pi Kappa Lambda Honorary Music Society and Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Society. He was a Presser Scholar award-winner, and studied with Duncan Couch, Director of Choral Activities, and Thom Sleeper, currently Director of Conducting Activities at the University of Miami (Florida). He attended the Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, Fl. where he studied composition with Alvin Singleton, former composer-in-residence for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Ron also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Rollins College, Winter Park, Fl.
