Fragile Hours
Robert Polansky
About this work:
A subtle piece, Fragile Hours pays homage to the impressionists of the late 19th-century but still retains a thoroughly modern voice through its unexpected use of a twelve-tone row. Its title refers to a line in a short poem by Robert Louis Stevenson: "So live, so love, so use that fragile hour." Its music, accordingly, evokes a similar tender and inward mood and feeling, remaining quiet and subdued throughout the entire piece.
