Half Moon Nocturne

Andrea Reinkemeyer

About this work:

Half Moon Nocturne was commissioned by and is dedicated to H. Robert Reynolds and the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings. This piece is a tone poem of sorts about the Pinckney Recreation Area near my home in Michigan where my husband and I have enjoyed many wonderful hikes together throughout the year. This is my first piece about Michigan's many wonderful natural offerings, but it follows in a long line of pieces inspired by nature. This piece combines modal mixture, long melodic lines and churning rhythmic figures to recreate my emotional response to the area.
