About this work:
A "romp," in which music expressive of varying characters, sometimes energetc or jocular, sometimes intimate, grows out of a procedure often thought to be dry and calculating but which is here always the means to an aesthetic end. The two players will discover as they learn to play the music what the special canonic relationship is between their parts, something that their audience will only wonder about.
