A Brief Winter

Elizabeth Luttinger

About this work:
In A Brief Winter, the timbral overlap of the viola’s velvetiness and the warm lower register and fuzzy throat-tones of the clarinet bring to life an uncomplicated fantasy that loosely traces the changing of the seasons through the microcosm of one day: glinting, swirling, heavy dusk, lulling, and quieting birds. The initials that create the title, A.B.W., stand for my long-time friend and mentor Andrew Brock Waggoner.
