Elizabeth received a BA from Bard College and an MM from Syracuse University, both in composition and under scholarship. After a few years studying, teaching, and singing in Spain and Germany, she spent a total of five years teaching courses including music theory and aural skills, composition and songwriting, and music appreciation at the college level.
Elizabeth has also accompanied and music directed several musicals, both at the community and professional levels, and has performed in both student and professional ensembles as a multi-instrumentalist, including stage and studio work. Her main instruments are keyboard, double bass, and voice, however she continues to take lessons on other instruments, including trombone, clarinet, and viola.
Highlights from her career include performances and premieres by the American Symphony Orchestra with Leon Botstein, the Da Capo Chamber Players, the Cassatt Quartet and the Colorado Quartet, as well as a premiere by (while performing with) the American Composer's Ensemble and members from Beta Collide and the Fireworks Ensemble. She has also received grants from Meet the Composer and the Strategic Opportunity Stipend through the New York Foundation for the Arts and was one of the only women to win BMI's Pete Carpenter Fellowship.
Elizabeth is currently transitioning from composing to performing and from teaching higher ed to gradeschool and offers private lessons to all ages. She also volunteers with YOLA at HOLA (Youth Orchestra of LA/Heart of LA), which utilises the el Sistema approach and works alongside the LA Phil and the Longy School of Music to provide exceptional music training to local students.
