Hulk

About this work:
The Hulk is a very early electronic piece I created using Protools, with live recordings from double-bass and samples of bells tolling. The Marvel comic book character, the Hulk (Bruce Banner), has always been fascinating to me. He personifies the universal inability to control emotion, and does so in such a way that draws parallels to countless other instances of the tipping (or bifurcation) point. His psyche has been explored over decades of comic books, on TV, and in movies, ranging from malicious monster to cerebral scientist, yet every transformation contains a microscopic, microcosmic point in time and in Banner’s chemical composition in which he may or may not turn into the Hulk. This point intrigues me and I find myself wondering every time if the Hulk will emerge or if Banner will become his own master. I have tried to create the tipping point in this piece; it is left to you to decide whether Banner or the Hulk will win.
