Variations on a Folk Tune (for string quartet)
About this work:
This work is a fantasia-like treatment of a newly composed folk song. The tune, in the style of an Appalachian ballad, is stated simply at the beginning, then winds its way through several embellishments and restatements of increasing intensity before drawing to a quiet and reflective close.
