About this work:
Variations on "Awariguli" for pn solo, 9'. The theme of the piece is taken from a Chinese folk song Awariguli, a name of a beautiful girl, from Uygur national minority in Xinjiang. The piano solo work was written during the composer's freshman year studying at the Composition Department of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, premiered by her sister Chen Min in Oct. 1979. It has been subsequently performed by Paola Volpe in Italy and Scandinavia countries from 1984-1986.
