About this work:
For Robert, as the title suggests, is dedicated to Robert DeAngelis who perished in the Trade World Center disaster on September 11, 2001. Robert
was married to my cousin Denise who invited me to attend his memorial service which took place on the following October 27 at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in West Hempstead, Long Island. The moving and inspiring service included two readings from the scriptures which have been used here as the text for these two choral compositions. The first one, "The Just Man," is taken from The Book of Wisdom and the second one, "There Will Be No More Death," is taken from the Book of Revelation. It is the intention of
the composer to have these two works done together, if at all possible, since much of the musical material which has been used is cyclic in nature.
The work, in its entirity, received its first performance at the SCI Region VIII Conference which took place at Central Washington University on April 11, 2003. Central Washington University Concert Choir, Karyl Carlson, Director.
