About this work:
Commissioned by Jessica Heller Knopf for the premiere in 2012 at the World Saxophone Congress in St. Andrews, Scotland, my duet The Soulful and the Perpetual for alto saxophone and piano is in two movements: I. The Soulful; II. The Perpetual. The first movement is lyrical, with moving and gripping melodies. The second movement is perpetual motion, which symbolizes consistence and perseverance. The music moves forward gradually towards the climax at the end of the piece.
