NOT ALONE

Chen Yi

A recipient of a commissioning grant, the New Music USA 2013 Live Music For Dance Award, the work Not Alone is inspired by the ancient Chinese poet Li Bai's poem Drinking Alone under the Moon with the Shadow. The music is imaginative, recitative, expressive and dramatic, which matches the movements and gestures in the dance. The premiere is given by Prism Sax Quartet with Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, which commissioned the work to celebrate its 25^th Anniversary NYC Season, at Salvatore Capezio Theater at Peridance Center, NYC (126 E. 13^th St.) on 4/26&27/2014.
