Thinking of My Home at Night (2022)

for mezzo-soprano and piano

 

Commissioned by Philadelphia Chamber Music Society and Spivey Hall

for the recital tour program of Fleur Barron and Julius Drake, Homeland, 

Dreams, Childhood in March 2023, my Thinking of My Home at Night 

for mezzo-soprano and piano sets a famous ancient Chinese poem Night 

Thoughts by Li Bai in Tang Dynasty into music. The song is written in 

Chinese traditional opera singing style. It's sung in Chinese and English.

Moonlight in front of my bed,

Is it frost on ground I guess?

Lift up my eyes, gazing at the moon,

Low down my head, thinking of my home.
