The Stranger. Each movement of this highly theatrical work presents a different facet of longing, treating the underlying yearning with seriousness while reflecting the fun of the texts. The work was premiered by mezzo-soprano Patricia Thompson, accompanied by Carl Gales, in Bloomington, IN, in April 2002, followed by the Seattle premiere by soprano Marissa Rebadulla-Ramos, accompanied by Erin Earl, in November.
