The texts of this brief song cycle are personal ads from the "Girls Seeking Boys" section of the weekly alternative Seattle newspaper The Stranger. Each movement of this highly theatrical work presents a different facet of longing, treating the underlying yearning with seriousness while reflecting the fun of the texts. The work was premiered by mezzo-soprano Patricia Thompson, accompanied by Carl Gales, in Bloomington, IN, in April 2002, followed by the Seattle premiere by soprano Marissa Rebadulla-Ramos, accompanied by Erin Earl, in November.
