A Woman Young And Old

Martin Halpern

About this work:
In these settings of three late poems of W.B.Yeats, the singer is the same person at three stages of her life: an amorous young woman; a worldly woman in her prime; and an older woman looking back at her many relations with men and ahead to her entrance into a world beyond time and beyond merely human relations. In all three settings, the piano is of equal importance with the voice.
