Lawrence Moss

About this work:
"Dao Ditties" sets 4 chapters of Lao Tzu's "Daodezhing" (in my translation) as so many tone poems for this small ensemble. The individual movements are: "Flowing", "Dreamily", "Very Slowly" and "Light and Lively". "Dao Ditties" was premiered by Christoher Kendall leading members of the 20th Century Consort at the Hirschorn Museum in Washington, DC. "The program... succeeded masterfully with the 'Dao Ditties' of Lawrence Moss, based on four poems from the ancient Chinese 'Tao Te Ching'...the philosophic depth and playful wit in the Moss pieces...
