Missa Austiniensis in C Minor

Lindsey Eck

About this work:
A contemporary setting of the Latin Mass (Ordinary only, in five movements) for choir and small rock ensemble [guitar(s), bass, keyboard]. The mass is arranged so that it may be performed with guitar only, keyboard only, or either one + bass, as well. The traditional Latin text is used without alteration but the musical style is drawn from today's popular music: rock, blues, jazz, funk, folk, and reggae, with some echoes of classical. Themes which recur from one section or movement to the next help to knit the mass together, but each movement can stand alone as an individual piece. Score excerpts: II. Gloria, D-H, III. Credo C-D.
