This work was commissioned by Daniel Norris and was composed in response to the events of 9/11. It was premiered on March 6, 2001 at California State University, Hayward, by mezzo-soprano Aja Gianola-Bland, Daniel Norris on trumpet, and Dr. Richard Mercier on piano.
