Movement IX

Ernesto P. Pellegrini

About this work:
This work, commissioned by and especially written for Harold Levin, attempts to clarify a Rondo form (ABA’B’A’’) in an unconventional manner. The emphatic opening is followed by a free waltz. The abbreviated returns of the opening and the waltz lead to a lenghty finale, in which the emphatic materials of the opening are expanded upon bringing the work to its brilliant conclusion in C major. Harold Levin premiered it in 2000 and has performed it on various occasions.
