This recording was made in the July of 2004. The premiere of this piece took place at The Brooklyn College Composer's Concerts on May 17th, 2004. It is performeed on this recording, and premiered by Marie Incontrera; piano, and Ayah Rifai; Bb Clarinet.
This piece was written with an evening under the stars in mind. The beginning is a sunset, which moves to exploration, and development in the "night". There is a cadenza for piano which encompasses the entire keyboard, and then returns to a light, floating section between both instruments. There is some more adventure, especially in the piano's simultaneously trills and arpeggios in one hand, and we finally end up on the opening theme, or the sunrise.
