Fantasia for Tuba and Marimba

Robert Paterson

About this work:
Program Notes Composers are of two minds regarding revising older works: some think that you should never revise, others—like Pierre Boulez—revise constantly. This piece was moderately playable in its original form but had a few problems. I took pleasure in tweaking it, being careful to keep as much of the original music in tact. The revisions are mostly minimal and amount to a few changed dynamics, articulations and technical details. Fantasia is my first piece for marimba and another instrument and was written while I was studying with Christopher Rouse at the Eastman School of Music. – Robert Paterson
